Another great weekend of racing for the team! Kenneth started the weekend out by not winning the Piru 40km TT (Cat 3) but claming the fastest overall time on the day (57:02)! He didn't stop there, the next day he won the Dana Point Grand Prix (Masters 30+ Cat 3/4) by going in a two man break then solo'ing in. To round out the podium Justin notched up another podium finish at the Dana Point Grand Prix (Cat 4). Link to OCRegister.com coverage of the race.
Several members of the team competed in the Breathless Agony century ride, 114 miles and 12,000ft of climbing, on Saturday with everyone posting PR's.

The race team is off to a strong start with Greg DeGuzman finding form winning legs over the past two weekends, winning the Cat 4 De Vlees Huis and Devil’s Punchbowl road races, and the Team accumulating over a dozen top ten finishes during the past two months!

| Making a solo trip down south to do this race Scott easily stayed with the lead pack and managed to take 21st after getting boxed in during the sprint. We'll just chalk this one up as "training". |

The Serious Cycling Racing Team’s season opener was last weekend and what a great time we had. Our new Team kits didn’t make it on time, but the weather sure did. The sun was out and our events were held in some of the most beautiful parts of California. Road racing in Solvang and criterium racing in Santa Barbara.

Glen, Scott and Greg shelled post race |
Winter training really paid off for everyone as we all fared well and competed strong.
Overall we had 16 riders, competing in ten different events! Two of our junior riders Luca Borin and Julian Moore did a fantastic job racing both days’ events and placing well
While we didn’t get a podium victory last weekend some major milestones were covered. Four of us raced a Masters 35+ Road Race – which was 84 miles and averaged 22.5 mph. A lot of personal doubt was resisted when we first signed up, and for good reason. The 35+ is the toughest race (short of PRO,1,2) and many of the top riders had signed up for the race. Everyone went for it and after we all finished the race we realized that we can compete on a different level.
In the Criteriums the next day we fielded enough guys to run lead-out trains in multiple races with two and three laps to go taking control of the field and ultimately creating a safer final sprint for everyone. I expect our skills in this area to develop quickly and deliver our sprinters to line for many podiums this year.
We had five racers in Category 5 (the entry level to our sport) as a result of our efforts to grow the sport!
